While there's some long-odds return on Primal's gambling, there's no escaping the truth that this is the most incongruous, patchiest Far Cry game released since Far Cry 2.
I would build and upgrade La Cantina as soon as you can; the buffs from those meals are super helpful in Guerilla mode, particularly the Gadget Gyoza. Perception grenades will keep enemies tagged for longer, and using Gadget Gyoza you can carry far more of them. Boom Boom is also helpful for keeping enemies tagged. I too am playing guerlla
Obviously the first step is to turn on "Survivor Mode" as well as put the difficulty to Expert and enable Permadeath It puts you on par with the enemies and gives you that incredibly grim feeling that 'hey, I'm a pre-historic human being who isn't a tank and can take maybe one spear to the body before dying'.
Primal is definitely one of the more experimental titles next to New Dawn, and yes the mechanics are the most unlike any other game in the franchise. I wish they would have done some more work on Primal and branded as to not associate with Far Cry, but they literally copied and pasted the map from Far Cry 4 so they would definitely get called

It's usually depending on your taste. Primal is as same as FC3 and FC4 (except it's a stone age style), FC5 is way different than the previous ones. Personally I love Primal and considering it as a best FC game, I enjoy stone age and the difficulty it offers you (Survivor mode + Permadeath).
